We work closely with Public Works, City Center District, and the Administrative Assistance to the City Council. With the annual funding provided by the Council, we purchase mulch, wholesale annual and perennial plants, and all incidentals needed to maintain 25 sites around the city (18 in-ground gardens and 58 planters).
Members must be registered to vote in New London and are appointed by the Council. In addition to attending monthly meetings, members plan, plant, and maintain individual sites throughout the year. The entire committee maintains the large Hillside Garden at Ocean Beach Park. We also install seasonal arrangements in the planters at City Hall and on Masonic Street. Any remaining funds are then used on special projects from our wish list.
